God "ding-donged" me

I had a fresh encounter with God today.

Five thirty AM was a far cry from my usual wake up time. I was probably still in 7th heaven by then quickly eclipsing to the 8th. But for some weird reason I was wide awake.

But being the sluggard as I am, I snuggled again beside my wife and our pillows and tried to catch some more Zzzz (as if I lacked it, a real bum in action).

I was successful in getting sleep (again) as I caught myself in between the waking & sleeping state. I believe lucid is the word for it.

Then I heard a doorbell. Now our doorbell ring is a LOUD "ding-dong" that wakes even our neighbors up. I swear I heard one because as an instinct I got up our bed and headed for the window to see who it was. While struggling to get up I was grumbling, "Who could be knocking at this un-holy hour?" "Don't they know people sleep!" I said.

To my amazement, no one was there.

And the time that lapsed from hearing the doorbell & peeping at the window was less than 2 seconds since our bed was just beside it.

"Ok. Who's playing jokes here?"

Then I got it. God "ding-donged" me. You lazy "dingaling" get up there and spend time with me (God).

I figured out God was waking me up. I was wide awake, remember? Then I forced myself to doze off again. Then God had to kick my butt to get me out of bed. Really dense, huh?

That morning I spent a great time with God. I missed those times. My word that morning was to "Seek". "Seek God more."

I read Psalm 25-28.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD , this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the
house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the
LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 27:8
My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.

God gave already all of himself to us. If we want more of God we have to seek God. It's really our effort to chase God-- want more of God. But do you have
time? Do you have your priorities in check? That morning I did.

I was a hero today... to a life of a little fellow. A baby cat to be exact.

I was driving to work from our house when I saw the kitten in the middle of the road. It was still blind probably a few days old. It didn't move. It was just there crying, for help, I guess. To why it was there I have no clue.

Cars & trucks just passed it by. Boy, only a miracle saved the kitty from getting squished, squashed & flat on the pavement. A common sight around here. God bless their souls :)

So on with my story-- I pulled over about 20 meters from the sight. Still hesitating & waiting for someone to save the poor kitty.

Alas, a 10-wheeler dump truck was coming fast by the curb. I've finally come to my senses & alighted from the car. Running as fast as I can, commanded the truck to stop & got the meowing kitten just at the knick of time. Put her by the sidewalk, by a house with some garden plants and tucked her there. Without getting too attached, left the kitty, "you'll be safe here," I said.

Well, I didn't exactly felt like the man in the blue suit (God bless the man's soul) but at least give the kitten a fighting chance to live and make a difference.

A worldchanger kitty? Maybe.

And so are the dozen other claims (even with so-called historical proof) in the book. These conspiracy theorist need a good whacking on the head & the behind to lodge them back to their senses.

An article (sent thru email by a friend) I recently read entitled "Conceptualize your purpose" made me think (and re-think) hard of my purpose.

The author, Mark Victory Hansen, said, "Discovering your purpose will put your life into crystal-clear perspective." So I took a shot at it and took action. I brought out my trusty Palm and went on to writing my purpose (as clear as I know it now).

Here's what came up:

I have the joy of my life today. Not because I have the day off of work. It's because I'm spending lots of time with the lady in the pink dress that you see here. If only fathers (me included) would spend more time with their children this world will be a better place.

* It is apostolic - given to apostles, with apostolic intention - go! They were sent.

* 2010 Initiative - every church plant one church every three years, be at least 2000 churches by 2010!
* Which nation are you called to? When will you go?
* Everyone called to pay, pray or go to the nations - which are you?
* Get a multi-generational, multi-national vision.

2. Apostolic Method
* Discipleship and church-planting.
* Radical message with radical converts. Getting saved right.
* Discipleship in context of local church.
* Global evangelism > global discipleship.
* Jesus only sent 70 where He later went.
* Paul established local churches wherever he went in order to disciple converts. Revisited those same places at expense of fresh evangelism.
* Apostles at Jerusalem followed up evangelistic work of Philip by planting a church and laying apostolic foundations.
* Only those that were added to number of disciples were considered �saved� by NT church - demonstrated genuine relationship with Jesus, water and Spirit baptised and changed lifestyle.
* Levels of discipleship - crowds (church member), 120 (faithful), 70 (wider leadership team), 12 (cell), 3 (triplet).
* 3 levels of discipleship: 1) being discipled - Paul by Barnabas 2) peer level discipling - Paul and Silas 3) discipling another - Timothy by Paul.
* Deep foundations, built on the word, getting to the heart of issues.

3. Apostolic Message
* Gospel of the Kingdom.
* Message of Jesus, John the Baptist, the Twelve, the 70, Peter, Paul, Philip & John.
* Lordship of Christ over all of life as He is King of kings and Lord of lords.
* Personally and corporately.
* Jesus discouraged people from becoming mere converts. Count the cost and take up your cross. All or nothing. Lord of all or not Lord at all. Need for radical, heart-felt repentance.
* In OT took Passover lamb into house and inspected it for 5 days before partaking of it. Should encourage people to do the same. People must know what they are getting into - no premature births.
* No luke-warm, high maintenance, low impact message. Message of Lordship is hard but it must be preached.
* Kingdom is applicable on corporate level - church, family, politics, economics, law, education, art, media, studies, cities and nations > global discipleship - discipling nations!
* Issue is not whether you are going to be left behind, but left out!

4. Apostolic Might

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. * Carry out great exploits, but are still a gentleman.
* Lead by example, character, integrity, lifestyle and role-modelling.
